COREY TAYLOR: Footage Of Atlanta 'Evening With' Tour Stop
December 28, 2011STONE SOUR and SLIPKNOT frontman Corey Taylor played at the Masquerade in Atlanta, Georgia on December 12, 2011 as part of his solo tour. Called "An Evening With Corey Taylor", the concerts featured Taylor doing both spoken-word and acoustic performances, along with question-and-answer sessions with the audience.
Fan-filmed video footage of Corey's Atlanta appearance can be seen below.
Taylor earlier in the month gave Sami Jarroush of the Rock It Out! Blog some more details about STONE SOUR's fourth album, which he hopes the band will begin recording in early 2012.
"We've got about 13 songs demoed," Corey said. "We've got about six more than I'm gonna record. A handful more than me and Josh [Rand, guitar] are working on. Josh and Jim [Root, guitar] are in a secret location in Florida right now working on things. And Roy's [Mayorga, drums] got some stuff that he's bringing in; he's still building his home studio right now so that he can play drums and not piss off his neighbors.
He added, "We're probably gonna record [the album] in Iowa with [producer] David Bottrill, who's done 'Ænima' by TOOL and he's done work with MUSE… pretty much everybody from TOOL to PETER GABRIEL he's worked with. He's a band's producer, he's an album producer.
"What I wanna do with this album is very grandiose. It's gonna be a little bit of everything for everybody, but just really kick-ass and hard."
Taylor previously said that the next STONE SOUR record could end up being a double concept album. As for the storyline, he said, "It's basically the story of a man who's trying to figure it out. He can't figure out if he's happier when he's miserable, or if he's miserable about not being happy. It's almost like a mid-life crisis in a way. He's young enough that he knows that there's still a lot of life to live, but he's old enough to realize that he can't be hung up on the romance of teenage depression and youthful aggression."
Taylor will tour Australia in February with SLIPKNOT, as well as the U.S. next summer, but said he's "not even thinking about" writing a new SLIPKNOT album yet.
